Course Information
Introduction to MSA Training
Learners will be able to:
- Explain the importance of analyzing measurement systems.
- Describe the techniques used to conduct an MSA.
- Use MSA results to reduce Measurement System error.

About This Course
Without a good measurement system, there is no real way of knowing what the output of a process really is. We may think that we are producing good parts based on measurements made only to find out that the parts are seriously defective or out-of-tolerance because the measuring device used is inaccurate, out-of-calibration, or not stable. The process of studying, measuring and improving the measurement system is Measurement System Analysis.
The Introduction to MSA online training course provides learners with a basic introduction to measurement system analysis (MSA), why it is important, the techniques used to analyze the variation within a measurement system, what MSA results mean, and ways to improve measurement systems.
The GR&R analysis techniques referenced in the Introduction to MSA course and this Reference Guide are generally in compliance with those presented in the 4th Edition of AIAG’s MSA Reference Manual.
Introduction to MSA consists of three lessons and a Challenge intended to allow learners to test their comprehension of the body of knowledge covered in the course.
