About This Course
ISO9001 is an international standard that defines the requirements for a Quality Management System (or QMS).
A QMS represents a structured system of business processes that enable an organization to achieve its quality objectives. It includes all activities used to direct, control, and coordinate quality. These activities include:
- Formulating a quality policy
- Setting quality objectives
- Describing the practices and techniques to be used for the planning, control, assurance and improvement of quality.
ISO9001 is the most widely recognized QMS standard worldwide.
In this training program, Overview of ISO9001 QMS, participants will learn about the importance of a QMS, its development process, and how it can lead to improved performance while supporting sustainable quality initiatives for any organization. The course provides a basic understanding of the standard and introduces learners to their role in supporting and meeting the commitments made in the Quality Management System.
This course provides a solid introduction to the concept and components of a Quality Management System for learners who work in any industry. However, we have introductory QMS standards courses specifically for people who work in the automotive or AS&D industries, in which case, this course would not be necessary.

- Understand what a QMS is and why it is important.
- Realize the underlying themes of the ISO9001 QMS format.
- Be aware of the 7 Principles and 10 Clauses upon which a QMS is based.
- Lesson 2 | Seven Principles
- Gain an appreciation for the scope and intent of the 7 foundational Principles of the ISO9001 QMS.
- Lesson 3 | Ten Clauses Requirements
- See how ISO9001 follows the ISO High-Level Structure used by all ISO management system standards.
- Understand how the actionable clauses, clauses 4 through 10, define the basic requirements of a QMS.
- Lesson 4 | Impact of ISO9001
- Realize how a QMS impacts an organization and how QMS initiatives can be leveraged to trigger improvements.
