Pitfalls Lean Six Sigma Champions Face

Just as a champion must help teams overcome obstacles and roadblocks, the Role of a Lean Six Sigma Champion is filled with pitfalls. Champions can better prepare themselves to be successful in their role if they are aware of and recognize common pitfalls.

Some of the most common pitfalls Lean Six Sigma Champions face are:

  • Getting intimately involved in activities of the team
  • Not making time for the team in a timely manner
  • Assuming rather than getting the facts
  • Accepting “We’ve already tried that.”
  • Not leveraging the work of others
  • Allowing bureaucracy to creep into the process
  • Using intangible measures, not bottom line results
