About This Course

Instituting 5S is usually one of the first steps companies take when implementing Lean Six Sigma. The 5S’s (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain) are rough English translations of the original Japanese terms for a process that optimizes workplace organization. The premise of 5S is simple: many improvements and efficiencies come from keeping a clean, organized, and well-run workplace.

The Introduction to 5S’s online training program consists of two lessons and a challenge. Lesson 1, What Is 5S All About?, walks the learner through each of the 5S’s: Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain. Lesson 2, An Organization-Wide 5S Effort, presents a roadmap for implementing 5S across the organization. The Challenge tests the learner’s knowledge of the subject matter.
